OTHER RESIDENTS

At Whitehouse kennels we have an extended ‘family’. As you know we love our cats and dogs but we also have other animals that live here........................


Tortoises
We have 11 tortoises they range quite a lot in size and our biggest weighs over 3 stone but he is one of the youngest at about 17 years old!

We have a small one who is well into her 80’s.

They all have their own personality and are quite funny when you get to know them. About 18 months ago an egg was laid and after lots of care it hatched!!!

It was so amazing to see....about the size of a golf ball and absolutely perfect!!

He has now developed his own personality and although he is still indoors in a very large tank he bangs repeatedly on the glass when his breakfast is due!!!!

 

 

 

Chickens


We love our 10 chickens they all have names and are all so different in attitude!

Some are really friendly and some have serious attitude especially Alfie, Kentucky and Sparticus!

They let us know when its bed time, they all go by themselves to bed and we tuck them in for the night!!

They produce lovely eggs – free range and so fresh!

We sell them in our shop for only £1.00 for 6!

 

 

Goats
You have probably seen Billy (I know, a very unusual name for a goat!!).

He is the largest of the 4 – he has been around for years and although belongs to our neighbour he has joined our gang!

Our little babies – the 3 Pigmy Goats Isla (white female), Baby (black and white male) and Molly (brown and white female) and are so sweet we got them when they were only 10 weeks old and so adorable!!

They lived the first few months in our garden and did a wonderful job pruning all the plants!

We released them into the big field in the summer and Billy watches over them all the time.

Next time you are in have a look in the field and you will see the chickens and the goats!!

Birds
Not only do we have budgies, we also have a variety of birds. You can see them all if you come into our shop.

All our birds have such big aviaries that in the cold weather they are often inside in the warm.

Our Budgies have such beautiful colours they are a delight to see and listen to.

 

 

 

 

 

Tigger
And last but by no means least....who could forget Tigger the resident cat with a very big attitude!!!

If you have had the pleasure of meeting him you will know exactly what we mean.
He is our cat who lives on site but he acts like he owns the place single handed!! He struts his stuff and lies on the counter when we are trying to serve people and nothing will make him move.

A very large German Shepherd came in once and he was so tall his nose touched the top of the counter.

When he did this Tigger just looked at him with disgust and when the dog dared to say hello the cat tried to swipe him but thankfully missed!!

So next time you are in and a cat is lying on the counter this twice before you stroke him or you’ll be counting your fingers on the way out!!
