SAVE OUR STRAYS FUNDRAISING.
S.O.S. DOG WALK 12th February, 2011 On saturday we had over 55 dogs and probably in the region of 100 people with all of them walking for either their chosen charity or collectively for the money they raised to be shared between all the charities represented of which their were ten .
On the day we collected £1299 with some more money due in we are hopeful we will of raised around £1400. Mr and Mrs Marshall raised the most money £185 they were walking for Holly Hedge and George Holloway aged 5 won the most money raised by an under 18 he raised £17 for the SOS fund. Mr and Mrs. Murtagh won the main raffle prize.( the other prize winner were, the Colmans, the Hargests, Georgina Peacock, and Pam Lears. Of the money raise to date it has been distributed as follows, The Dogs Trust £161.90, Secretworld £61.90, RSPCA £77.90, Dog Friends £79.71, Greyhound rescue South West £203.92, Holly Hedge £226.90, Second Chance Rescue £33.90, Support Dogs £26.90, The Cinnamon Trust £26.90 and the SOS fund £399.98 Many of the dogs who walked finished up by being rewarded with train rides at the Minature Railway and those people who walked were grateful for hot drinks and snacks at the cafe there. The charity for Weston Brest Cancer group set up a stall at the minature railway and hopefully did well out of being involved. The organisers Whitehouse Kennels and Cattery were grateful for all the support and the fantastic efforts made by those people who took part and are hopeful that next year which will be the 4th SOS Valentines Event will see an increase in the actual involvement of the charities that benefit from the event, more participants, more money raised and perhaps some support from some local business who to date have not been forthcoming in supporting the event and the cost of doing it.
