We are a family business with over 20 years experience and we pride ourselves on the quality and care we provide.

Our priority is the reassurance to customers that your best friend is left in good hands enabling you to relocate overseas or enjoy a well earned break!

Whitehouse Kennels was established over 20 years ago by Chris and Brian King and their two sons Bev and Jerry.

Extensive improvements have been made to the kennels over the last 20 years to provide the best holiday facilities for your pet and you are very welcome to visit and look around. We are located in a rural area yet only minutes away from the M5, A370 and A38.

Whitehouse Kennels employs 10 staff of which some have been with us for over 10 years.

Our staff have extensive experience and knowledge in small animal care and behaviour between them.

Being so close to Bristol International Airport and responding to customer requests we are theperfect location for exporting animals by air!

We have our own pet travel consultant, specialised vehicles for transportation, and strong links with a local veterinary practice who visit us on a regular basis.

We have been able to develop an excellent working arrangement with the airport which has resulted in your pets spending less time in the air kennels.

Our hard work and commitment to providing the very best in animal care has enabled us to provide the kennelling services for two Local Authorities and several breed rescue organisations.

We were very lucky recently to have had in the kennels some very special guests,

18 dogs who are the sled dogs run by the Keen family consisting of mum, dad and daughter. After trying to work out how we could get them from their kennels to their runs withough taking off we wanted to know lots more about them.

We found that the there is a long sled dog history and they have helped us in lots of ways in two world wars and the Canadian Mounties. One of the proudest moments in history was in 1925 when a case of diphtheria was discovered in Nome, Alaska but the supply of serum in the city was inadequate to stave of an epidemic. A relay of two sled dog teams forged their way through the  rough interior of Alaska and across the Bering Sea Ice to bring supplies from the rough interior of Alaska to the grateful inhabitants of Nome. A statue of Balto who led one of the teams stands in New York's central park and the Iditarod trail race is held during March each year to commemorate the Nome serum run.

In Britain the weather means that teams run on wheeled rigs rather than sleds. The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain schedule working events throughout the rally season. The rallies are run on mud covered trails though forests and look exhilarating with speeds of 30mph reached so pretty good or scary depending on your outlook!!! The annual sled dog rally in Aviemore, Scotland in January offers the best chance of seeing sled dogs in their natural surroundings although recently the British weather has brought the opportunity to bring the sleds out!!
The team that stayed on holiday with so were very much affectionate, fun loving dogs and have been placed amongst the top 3 in the uk at recent events.

We wish them all the very best and will be watching them mush!!
